Marijuana policy raises a number of questions related to public safety. The public and policymakers want to know that steps are taken to ensure that marijuana legalization and regulation can increase public safety, rather than inadvertently creating risks to public safety.

A core concern of the public is how to ensure safety on the roads in the situation a driver drives under the influence of marijuana. Other public safety issues relate to employment and environmental issues in a transition to a legal market.

The Public Safety Working Group of the Blue Ribbon Commission is researching and developing options for how to address the myriad questions that relate to these issues.
